Dolly Duncan (nee Murphy) and Hilda Willard (nee Holcombe) were two telephonists who are remembered about the 1930’s period.

A site described as Allotment 1 of Section 1, village of Burren Junction, parish of Denylson, County of Jamison was acquired as a site for an official Post Office at Burren Junction and recorded in the Commonwealth Gazette of 1st October, 1910. “Burren Junction” was included in a list of new buildings in the 1916 annual report of the Postmaster General (21). In recent years a brick building has been added which is the telephone exchange.

On 1.7.1983 the Burren Junction was allocated non-official status again and still operates as a non-official office providing a vital service to the people of the area.
