Spier and Duncan and J. T. Church were both still in business in 1920, but by 1930, Spier and Duncan were not operating in the town as agents. J. T. Church & Co’s agency was listed as agents for Ford Cars, S.U. & N. Insurance Co., Secretary of Local Branch of the Graziers Association and L. C. Burling is also listed as in the employ of J. T. Church & Co.
By 1930, Tom Atkinson and Hector Radford were also in partnership in an agency business as agents for Chrysler Motor Cars, Moffat Virtue Ltd., F. W. Williams & Co., Ltd. Producers & Citizens Co-Operative Assurance Co. and Australian Alliance Assurance Co. (36). The premises of Tom Atkinson’s Agency were located on the block between Pat Collins’ store and Mrs. Harris’ former boarding house. Tom Atkinson’s son Ted remembers that the various landholder clients around the area relied on his father as a forwarding agent for their stock and wool, which was stored in a large shed in a yard belonging to George Sarquis near where Reg Smith now lives.
After Tom Atkinson left the business during the 1940’s, Hector Radford carried on his agency up until recent times. His premises, situated along Alma Street opposite the present store, were not always situated in that particular location. Hamilton Spier and Jones first built the office in front of Harry Jones’ residence in the area where Owen Hardy now lives. The office was moved on skids by Jack McCann’s bullock team and placed in its present position in 1937. (37).
R. G. (Dick) Garvey came to Burren Junction as a young man in the 1920’s as P.P. Board Secretary. He married a local girl, Flo Manton and stayed until his death in the 1960’s as an active and prominent citizen of the town, promoting better facilities for Burren and providing active support to local organisations. He combined his job as P.P. Board Secretary with his own agency interests. During the 1950’s, Len and Rod Sevil conducted an agency business in Burren Junction and during the 1960’s, Don Campion conducted a business for Schute Bell, while Peter Tapscott operated from Julian Church’s old agency business for Thomas & Co. The amalgamation of smaller wool firms into two major companies, Elders and Dalgetys, has meant the demise of smaller agencies and after Peter Tapscott left Burren Junction about the mid 1970's there has been no further agencies operating in Burren Junction.
