The first Committee, which was formed in 1951, was
President: N L Thompson
Vice-President: W B Russell
Secretary: P Mitchell
Treasurer: G Border
The RSL Club was a successful enterprise, and before long, plans were in hand to build a new clubhouse. On 29th November 1959 at 4.30 pm, the building was officially opened by Sir John Northcott, Governor of NSW. The CWA ladies provided the eats, and it was a memorable day.
The Club also provides the facility of an excellent lawn bowling green, with bowls being a very popular sport in the area, and bowlers travelling for interchange visits with other bowling club members to enjoy competition days. Later on, the RSL was formed into the RAL and Sporting Club Ltd and this is its official title to the present day.
Over the years, the committee have worked hard to maintain the facilities and effect improvements. The bowling green has been top-dressed, additions and improvements made to the clubhouse, and just recently, a new fence was erected around the surrounds of the whole complex.
The club continues to be a social centre of the town, for as well as providing amenities for bowlers, there is also planned regular entertainment and special features such as prawn and chicken dinners.
