The former Coronation Hotel, in October 1974, looking north along Waterloo St, on the site of the present Swimming Pool. Constructed in 1911, for Michael Mulckey, one of the foremost developers in Burren Junction in the early 1900’s, it owes its name to the Coronation of King George V. Wise’s Post Office directory of 1915 lists Philip Mohr as the licensee. The Hotel was exchanged by Michael Mulckey for G. Holland’s property “Neotsfield” about 1916. Harry Holland ran the Hotel for Joshua Holland; however, by 1920, it was under the management of William Goward, with the licensee listed as Tom Barrett. During the late 1930’s & 40’s, the Hotel was operated by Oliver Hall. In the 1950’s through to the 60’s, the Radford family conducted the business under the management of Warwick Radford. In the early 1970’s, through most of the 80’s, Bob & Sandra Barrett owned & operated the Coronation Hotel until it was purchased by Robin Findley in 1987. The Hotel building, being considered to be unsafe, was demolished & a new Hotel constructed in a different location facing Slack-Smith Street.
